After Tax Estimate
Year-wise Growth

This is an estimate. Banks may use slightly different day-count and rounding rules, so your actual maturity amount can differ a little.
What Is an FD Calculator?
An FD calculator is a free tool that tells you how much money you will get when your fixed deposit matures. You enter the deposit amount, the interest rate and the tenure, and the FD calculator shows your total interest and the final maturity amount. A fixed deposit (FD) is a safe and popular way to save money in India, and this tool helps you compare different rates and tenures before you open one at a bank or post office.
How to Use This FD Calculator
- Enter the deposit amount you want to invest.
- Enter the interest rate offered by your bank.
- Enter the tenure in years, and add extra months if needed.
- Choose how often the interest is compounded. Many banks use quarterly compounding.
- See your maturity amount, total interest and effective yearly return instantly.
The table below the result shows how your balance grows year by year.
FD Calculator Formula
This FD calculator uses the compound interest formula:
A = P × (1 + r / n)n × t
- A = maturity amount
- P = deposit amount (principal)
- r = yearly interest rate (as a decimal, so 7% is 0.07)
- n = number of times interest is compounded in a year
- t = tenure in years
FD Calculator Example
Suppose you deposit ₹1,00,000 for 5 years at 7% per year with quarterly compounding. The maturity amount will be about ₹1,41,478, so you earn about ₹41,478 as interest. If the same deposit is compounded only once a year, the maturity amount is about ₹1,40,255. This shows why compounding matters: the more often interest is added, the more you earn. You can test this yourself in the FD calculator above.
What Is Effective Yearly Return?
The interest rate your bank advertises is the yearly rate before compounding. The effective yearly return shows what you really earn in a year after compounding is added. With 7% interest and quarterly compounding, the effective return is about 7.19% per year.
Benefits of Using an FD Calculator

Things to Remember
- The result is an estimate. Your bank’s actual maturity amount can differ because of its own rules for rounding and day counting.
- Interest earned on an FD is taxable, and banks may deduct TDS above a limit set by tax rules. Please check the current rules before you invest. This calculator does not include tax.
- Breaking an FD before maturity usually means a penalty and a lower interest rate.
- Bank deposits are insured only up to a limit. Read more on the DICGC website.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does an FD calculator work?
It uses the compound interest formula with your deposit amount, interest rate, tenure and compounding frequency to find the maturity amount and total interest.
Is this FD calculator free?
Yes. It is completely free, with no signup and no limit on how many times you use it.
Which compounding should I choose?
Many banks in India compound FD interest quarterly, so quarterly is the default here. Check your bank’s FD terms and choose the same option for a closer result.
Is FD interest fixed?
For a normal fixed deposit, the rate is fixed for the whole tenure at the time you open it. A new FD can have a different rate, so rates are worth comparing each time.
Is the interest on an FD taxable?
Yes, FD interest is added to your income and taxed as per your slab. Banks may also deduct TDS above a limit. Please check the latest income tax rules.
Can I use this tool for a recurring deposit (RD)?
No. This tool is made for a one-time deposit. A recurring deposit adds money every month, so it needs a different calculator.
Why is my bank’s maturity amount slightly different?
Banks may use different day counting, rounding and payout rules, so the final amount can be a little higher or lower than this estimate.
